i-PRO to Launch New 360-Degree Fisheye Network Camera With Heater for Winter And Cold Regions

Written by NewsroomAuther | December 04, 2020

Fukuoka, JAPAN (December 4th, 2020) – Panasonic i-PRO Sensing Solutions, formerly Panasonic Security Group, is announcing a launch of industry's first[1] 360-degree fisheye network camera with a transparent heater for use in winter and cold regions[2].

In cold regions, rain or snow in winter may freeze water drops on the camera surface, causing problems with video surveillance. In particular, 360-degree fisheye network cameras use a fixed lens to monitor a wide angle of view, so even if the freezing range is small, the effect on the shooting range is quite serious.

The newly launching 360-degree fisheye network camera is equipped with a transparent heater, which prevents ice coating by heating the dome cover uniformly, enabling stable monitoring even in snowy areas. It can be used not only for monitoring outdoor in winter and cold regions, but also for monitoring in refrigerated warehouses.

In addition, this new network camera supports 4K resolution. There are major 2 benefits of 4K resolution: when compared to full HD or HD resolution, a larger area can be captured if the image is of the same detail (resolution). Also, when the shooting range (angle of view) is the same, higher definition shooting can be performed.

We i-PRO will continue our search for better products and continue to contribute to the realization of a society in which people can enjoy themselves with smiles through security and safety initiatives.

Key Features

  1. Equipped with a transparent heater to prevent freezing of a camera surface during use in winter and cold regions, enabling tough monitoring even in low temperature environments.
    • Prevents freezing of a dome cover by operating a heater according to an outside air temperature when it snows or a temperature drops.

By using transparent heater, uniform heating of a camera surface is achieved, and all ice is melted from a center to an edge of lens.

  1. Equipped with fisheye lens, it can shoot 360 ° panoramic images. Shoots natural images with little distortion from center to edge in 9-megapixel high resolution, smooth 30 frames-per-second video.
    • A single camera shoots 360-degree panoramic images. 9 Mega pixels, equivalent to 4K, delivers crisp and clear images not only at a center of lens, but also at edges to minimize distortion.

    • The image format can be selected from 360-degree fisheye, double panorama, panorama, and 4-image PTZ.

  1. Enables high data compression, reduces network load, and increases recordable time.
    • With H.265 support and i-PRO's unique Smart Coding technology, data volume can be reduced while maintaining high resolution data, increasing recording time and reducing network load. By reducing the data capacity, it is possible to increase a recording time even with the HDD capacity of a same recorder, or to record at a higher resolution and frame rate than before.
